Naomi's Village - Courtney Butler - Summer '16
|
Naomi's Village is a children's home located in Maai Mahiu, Kenya. Founded in 2011, they have rescued and taken in over 65 children, including abandoned babies and those left parent-less by terrorist attacks, AIDS, disasters, and domestic violence.
We believe the solution to this crisis lies within Kenya. Our vision is to empower a group of children to grow up to be part of the answer to the cries of their orphaned peers. At Naomi’s Village, we provide nurturing love, healthcare, proper nutrition, excellent education, leadership training, spiritual care, and individual counseling to each child. Our children receive all that a child needs to develop fully, and to dream unhindered by limits. |
Stateside Intern
The stateside intern must be able to work on multiple projects at a time, coordinate with sponsors and donors, and be able to communicate effectively. You must be organized and have your own transportation. You must be flexible and able to take on new challenges and look creatively at a problem. You also must belong to a church and be willing to submit your testimony upon review. You also must live in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area to be hired.
The stateside intern will be responsible for sending out thank you gifts, helping to organize volunteer teams going to Kenya from the U.S., keeping track of team funding, organizing the storage unit, and any other projects given during their time. Through this experience you will gain insight on how a non-profit operates, how to stay organized, and how to efficiently communicate with people in the community to help benefit your organization.
The Stateside Intern is an unpaid internship opportunity to connect with people around the world, and to gain experience working with a non-profit Christian organization. There is no room or board offered or additional benefits. It is strictly volunteer.
